Wide-ranging, intelligent, balanced and informed contribution to the cannabis debate by Will – whose writing is consistently of high quality.
The writer has no agenda about what drugs other competent adult human beings do/don’t decide to take – but she does have an agenda about balanced and accurate information being available to support people in making these choices. That goes for legal and prohibited drugs. She also has an agenda focusing on the interests of the individual human being concerned – rather than the big business dimension (be that in the context of the drug cartels or Big Pharma and political vested interests).
The reality is that – for legal and prohibited psychoactive drugs – there is often very limited information available to balance/challenge the governmental line or that favoured by the psychiatric establishment. As Will says:-
‘No leading mental health organization has publicly expressed opposition to the War on Drugs or presented an honest discussion of the pros and cons of cannabis legalization. Even with the prohibition tide now turning, mainstream organizations such as National Alliance on Mental Illness and the Schizophrenia Society of Canada continue to echo cannabis demonization, trailing behind both consensus scientific views and common sense.’
So here’s one for informed opinion, and common sense. Thanks, Will and http://www.beyondmeds.com.
