John O’Donohue on longing to be seen

One of the greatest desires of every human being is the longing to be seen. Deep within us is the longing to see ourselves and be seen as we really are. This is the miracle of love and friendship. With the barriers, protections and falsities gone, you can see and be seen as you are. The poet Kathleen Raine says: ‘Unless you see a thing in the light of love, you don’t see it at all.’
