This 11 1/2 minute film clip shows an amazing 13 year old boy addressing a large ‘TED’* audience at the University of Nevada on the subject of ‘What happens when a kid leaves traditional education’. What he says is enough to convert many to the home schooling lobby; but I post it on our blog as a simply beautiful illustration of the power of the individual and our ability to self determine; of the infinite ways that people get to ‘what is right for them’. Carl Rogers, in coming up with his theories about ‘person-centredness’ was not just speaking to a white, Western society in the 1960’s, with little relevance to us ‘nowadays’, but in my view was propounding some universal truths, relevant to all times and places. 13 year old Logan, embodies those ideas and demonstrates the power of ‘thinking outside the box’. It’s well worth the 11 minutes!
